if anyone has a small coop that they dont want for free or really cheap dont have much to give. willing to trade (if i have anything you want) or do any odds and ends jobs you need done. its always been a dream of mine to have a coop. every since i was a little girl i visited a farm and would would get up at sun raise to help with the animals. the chicken coop was my fav. i was always so excited to see how many eggs we had

anyways someone is willing to give me some chickens and ive built the runing part but ran out of cash to finish it. so if any can help i would be VERY greatful! (live in jackson county just out side of Scottsboro Alabama)

Try your local Sears or lawnmower store. They should have some leftover pallets/crates. Then get a tarp from Walmart to cover it. Very cheap, but works. As for chickens, check with your animal shelters. Folks will leave easter chicks and they can't handle them.

thats a really smart idea! would i just take the pallets apart and put it together? think it would be sturdy?

We built ours out of pallets, but still needed some 2 x 4s and plywood. It's a 4 x 6 coop.

thats really cool! is that window just open? do you have any pics of the inside? and how many did you need?

If you have a place that sells tractors and farm equipment they will usually give you the pallets/shipping boxes/wood free too. Good luck!

You're very welcome. At ours we got all the pallets we were able to haul off, the regular size and the huge ones (both out of great quality wood), 2 4'x4' boxes with lids suitable for brooders and a 2'x2' box with a lid suitable for a small brooder. Also lumber. They told us to come back any time.

craigs list often has sheds and coops in the free section. The hard part is getting them. Before you start looking get 4 guys and a truck with a trailer at your disposal so when you find it you have the help you need to get it. Or you can go for a dog house or rabbit hutch and convert them easily with a few things from home depot. Good Luck!

yeah i was going to convert a dog house but i didnt know if it would work...but thanks for the ideas it helped alot
