i guess to get started i'll use the template:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
No, not really. we had about 100 or so when i was a child. my husband and i recently (a bit over a year ago) moved to a small town that allows chickens (even roosters!) so we decided to get us a few.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
counting the hatchings we just did we have 63. I'm in the process of finding somewheres i can sell the roosters we don't need and the other hens
(3) What breeds do you have?
a mix...we bought them last season as straight runs. i know i have one true Rhode Island Red hen. one rooster is either a rhodes or a new hampshire. one hen i think might be a blue jersey giant. 3 i think are red shaver. one i think might be a blue laced barnevelder (but could be wrong, she's only laced a bit in the neck and upper chest) one i think is a dutch bantam (but she has a big lop comb). One rooster i'm trying to figure out, but he doesn't really have the markings of any One breed (I'd swear he's as Asil of some kind, but not sure at all).
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
was looking for information on caring for chicks last season and this site was the best one i found with all information in one place.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I also enjoy caching, reading, writing, cooking, 4wheeling, fishing and lots of other outdoor stuff
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 daughters and have been married almost 14 years. i'm a homemaker. if i could have my way we'd only have to worry about selling the roosters.
ETA: I live in a small town in Oklahoma called Big Cabin
