I hadn't wanted to do chicks again this year but I do want to add some chickens to the flock. I regret my decision to raise hamburgs and would like to get some less flighty birds. I originally liked the idea of getting adults but I'm not really set up to do a full quarantine so I'm thinking chicks might be better after all. Will the fact that they're here from the very start mean that their immune systems will be adjusted to our particular environment? If I just raise them as usual and then take care later on with the introductions, socially, will they be OK?

Thank you! I'm excited about some orpingtons or australorps or something a little tamer than hamburgs.

Your plan sounds great to me.. I would thinkthat by raising them yourself they will be exposed to whatever germs you have around thus building their immune systems..

Yep definatly they will get used to there surrounding when there little and grow into them, also when you start with babies they will probably think of you as there mother and become more attached to you even when there grown up.
