Wanting To Know about 4-h for my kids.Please help?

My babies are still young Age's 2 and 4. I know its along time till they begin 4-h They love chickens and they already help me feed treats and carry water and help with babies.

How do you go about put your kids in 4-h at what age do kids normally start 4-h?

Anything eles I should know about 4-h would be great!

Most kids enter at age 6-7 yo and join the Cloverbuds. Once they turn 9 during the 4-H year they can become a regular member.
Now you do not have to wait to join if your kids are interested. Check out your local fair rules they might be able to do open show. If you go to the shows you can learn alot.

Start small do not go wild signing up for projects.
be ready to help them but do not do it all for them.

Now on the bad things that we have experienced in a different 4-H group, my son got pretty much put down by the older kids when he was in cloverbuds. He felt so put down he quit. Never could get him to rejoin a differnt club even when he was older.

Once you get past that it is pretty good.

Alot more things to do besides just animals too.

you can go talk to your local county extension office and they can give you info about the local clubs.
