The babies are here! The babies are here! The brooder is plenty warm, and the kids and I are enchanted. Hopefully the husband will be when he gets home! Here are some pics: Praline, Peaches, and Bananabelle. (Yes, my daughter was involved in choosing these names!)

I hope the guy at the feed store knew what he was doing. These three were in a brooder with RIR, Barred Rocks, and something else (I forget what), and he said they were Ameracaunas (but I'm thinking they're EE's, right? Anyone know?). He scooped these three right up like he knew exactly what they were, so I hope I didn't get one of the other breeds instead of my EE's!

yes, they would be EE's and not ameracaunas if purchased through a feed store.

I can't tell with the top chick (because of the red glow), but the other two look like EE's. (A barred rock would black, and my RIR's were more reddish so they don't look like them). Each of my EE's once full grown has a little different markings/color. My kids love their eggs.

Aw, they're very cute and look healthy! Great name choices.

Sounds like these are your first chickens? If so, best of luck with them! They all look like EEs to me, which will be fun because EEs often turn out really interesting and beautiful colors. Their green eggs are lovely, too. Have fun watching them grow up! If you handle them quite a bit as babies, they'll be tame and easy to handle as adults.

The top chick is a medium brown color with a darker brown stripe down her back. Not exactly a chipmunk pattern like the other two, though. She does have poofy cheeks, but they don't show up well in the picture.
