Ok, this may just be a dumb idea, but I carry water to the hens 3x a day in very cold weather because their waterer freezes. Does anyone give them lukewarm or warmer water? I know that it won't slow down the freezing process much, but would the hens enjoy it? I'm filling the waterer in at the house sink anyway in cold weather.

I give warm water to my chickens when the temps in the AM are lower than 40f. We rarely get temps that stay freezing all day; if we do, then I check the water a few times during the day to make sure it is not frozen. I have heard it helps keep them warm to help with egg-laying.
