I had a small design flaw in my coop...no way to enter the small run, the pop door dropped shut just fine when i realesed the rope I rigged, HOWEVER it didn't have a latch, as a result one of my babies got pushed by the others and ended up pinned to the ramp by the door, when I found him this morning I thought he was dead. I lifted the front end of the run and my 3year old went in and picked him up, when she did he moved indicating that he wasn't in fact dead...yet...another few mins and he would have been, I brought him in the house and put him on a towel on a heat pad, I gave him some warm sugar water when he was starting to perk up, but all my efforts faild to save this pretty little chicks life...all because of a design flaw.
This is several months after the fact and I have since learned that the coop flaw was not all that killed Landen, I am also fully convinced at this time that he was purposly pushed out that door by Langley, the other rooster...even with out spurs he has killed 5standard roosters and a male goose to date...2 of them at one time in less than an hour...he is sweet as pie to people and gets along great with his hens, he even likes dogs cats and sheep, but I wouldn't dare another male fowl to get within 100ft of him.
