oh, so I haven't cracked it. I am guessing it is not edible.
It is but it wouldn't even be a bite worth! If you have a dog, you can crush it in their food, shell and all, and let them eat it.

Fermenting feed for two chickens is a labor of love for sure!

If it's moldy I doubt they'd eat it, but it wouldn't cause them to lay smaller eggs. I ferment grain, and they do eat it all so couldn't say how long can it sit outside in a dish before molding, but I'd think something's wrong if it is. Maybe try giving it to them every other day instead of every day. Then they might eat it with a little more vigor.
