Was Blu Kote on Pecked Comb a good idea?

My 5 month old buff orpington had a fresh peck mark on her comb w/ a little bit of blood. I had read to use Blu Kote, so I took a q-tip and put a liberal dab over the wound. Her flock mates, who have been with her since day one, came after her like a heat seeking missle. I scooped her up, separated her, and tried to remove the Blu Kote carefully w/ alcohol...now she looks like a buff orpington w/ a purple toupee. Do I just wait until the Blu Kote wears off, then sneak her back onto the roost at night? I've read some of the other entries regarding Blu Kote, and it doesn't sound like anything really takes it off. She misses her buddies, and was totally confused as to why they had turned on her. Had never seen the mean side of my flock before.

Confused on when to use Blu Kote--just on dark chickens w/ feather picking wounds? What about wounds on light chickens?

Thanks for your input!!!

i have been using blu-kote on one of my pullets.and her bald spot on her heads gets larger everyday.that may be my problem.thank you.i thought if i covered her bald spot.that it may discourage pecking.its possible it may be making it worse.
