state not to wash a hatching egg. I have one egg from a particular chicken which I want to hatch despite it being just covered in poop! I mean there is no way I will set an egg that filthy because it will stink up the incubator not to mention fill it with germs.

So to my question, how is the best method for cleaning an egg for setting to hatch? I'm guessing small amount of plain soap and luke warm water brushing with a soft brush (gently) then rinse (well) to remove any soap traces or... (your thoughts)?

Thank you!
