Hey y'all!

I read on BYC about washing eggs before incubation with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Is this legit? I'll be conducting a science project (3 washed, 3 unwashed, hatch rates) over the next few weeks with this in mind, but wanted to know if it's just an old wives' tale before I start.

TIA!

I've always heard never wash an egg simply because it takes away the bloom that seals the egg from harmful bacteria. Other than that reason should grow and hatch fine.

I saw a YouTube video last year with a guy claiming that he sprays his with a hp mix and got great hatch rates. I think it would be something I’d consider if I was having lots of quitters in previous hatches, but thankfully I haven’t had that problem yet.
