Washing eggs

What do you use to wash the eggs after they are layed? I was told they need to be washed to keep salmonella away, is that true?

I use Egg Washer Pro to wash my eggs, but not because of worries of salmonella. Just because it is a hen's bottom it passes through and we like to boil eggs (which sometimes crack).

Well, I don't have eggs yet, but,
I think I wouldn't wash the eggs unless
they were very soiled. I worry about washing
the bloom off more than anything. I (hopefully)
will wash before using.
