Watching the silkies... when will we know?

The “Specimens” are 2 weeks old. There is NO way in the world to tell gender yet. But I’m going to try to post weekly photo updates until they tell us who they are.

I got a closeup of Specimen 2:

But Specimen 1 wouldn’t cooperate until I had them in together in the sun (S1 is in front in the bottom photo):

So tune in next week when we still won’t be able to tell male or female!

You‘ll have to wait till they are around 8 weeks old to have any kind of idea on sex. They are very cute, and I’ll tune in for a few weeks worth of guessing

So do thick legs indicate a likely cockerel? Because Specimen 2 is huge compared to Specimen 1, and his legs are like little tree trunks. I’ll get pictures later.

Would be interesting to see pics of them side by side for more comparison
..Could be an indicator but they do have plenty of growing to do and one might just develop at a faster pace... I had 2 boys in a clutch and one was very fast developing I thought the other one was a girl but months later worked out it was a boy just slower developing.

Five weeks old today. I tried to get pics of them together as well as close ups. All I see in the results are black fuzz balls. This is the best of probably 20 attempts.

There are no feet-specific photos; the only way I get to see their feet is by flipping them over. This is very poorly received.
