Water barrel

Hello!
So we have a 30 gallon barrel to put water in for our chickens. We are trying to figure out what we can put in this barrel with the water to prevent it from molding? Does anybody have some ideas?

Are you talking about the green algae? Sunlight will do that, you can try putting the barrel in shade. The biofilm inside can create problems and this stuff helps with that. Any method you would use to preserve your own water would work. This is what I have been using
