Do chickens like or appreciate a water bath? I ask because my 4 Cornish Rocks have "stuff" on their feathers and it seems like it is annoying them. It's dried on (yay for diarrhea and walking over each other and warm dry temps - NOT).

I also ask because we live in central TX and I give my dogs "baths" or play in the water to help bring their temp down when its really hot.

It depends on the chicken. Usually, they are fidgety when they first get in the water but after awhile they calm down. Most chickens also love to be blow dried!

No, chickens don't naturally water bathe. They dust bathe and preen, that usually takes care of things.

Some folks find a bird likes to stand in say a kiddie pool when it's hot, or appreciate the coolness from a mister system.

Thank you donrae! I found I have one that likes to roll in a puddle of mud until all the mud is gone. What a mess!! But if she is happy then I guess I have to be too.
