I'd like to get some poultry nipples and plug them into a bucket. They all seem to state that they work in plastic buckets but I want to use them on a metal 5 gallon pale. Will this work? Has anyone tried it?

Thank you,

I can't say I've ever tried it. I've used metal feeders/waterers before, and plastic almost always outlasted it.

Metal rusts. If it's rust-resistant/rust-proof, it'll get scratched then rust. Especially if you have kids beating on it.
Metal dents. If it flexes, it often holds that flex. Which stinks when you have to tap ice out of it.
If you have to add bleach or a similar thing to your waterer, some metals will react.
Plastic's cheaper, generally, and usually comes with a nice lid.

I will say that metal's unlikely to split on the bottom, like a plastic bucket might if it freezes through.

This is what I did. They even roost and drink at the same time lol.
