Hi,
I have a runt Buff Orpington, 14 weeks, who dropped I'd say around 30mL of water this morning as some kind of non-poopy diarrhoea. It was a very noticeable amount of liquid. I inspected it for anything unusual but couldn't find anything.
As for some background, being a bit of a runt, when we noticed this (assumed) pullet wasn't getting bigger like our other Buff Orpington and two New Hampshires we treated them all for worms and coccidiosis - just in case. That was about four weeks ago. She has since put on some more weight and looks healthier, although she never had any real symptoms of ill-health before anyway. Also, being summer here in Australia we've had some changeable weather lately where I live from very hot days one day (38C / 100F) to cool and overcast the next. Is it possible the chickens have been drinking excessively from the heat? The chickens always have access to shade and plenty of cooled water (I've been putting frozen water bottles in their water).
Other than this, she acts sprightly enough and eats and drinks normally. Is it normal for chickens, which I understand do not urinate, to do this?
