My sussex chicks drink TONS of water. and doo really watery excrement all the time. More -by far- than any of my other chicks did. Is this a sussex thing? or is there something else playing a role.

I hope it's just normal variation. For sure you get all kinds of different poops with new chicks.

I just posted about the same thing last night!!! My 3 day old Sussex lives in front of the waterer and then poops the watery poo! My other 2, Delaware and BO don't drink 1/4 of what she drinks. She's eating well and bouncy as a fluffy ball, but man oh man can she drink!

Here is a link that has been posted before on this forum. I found it really helpful!

I have this bookmarked! It has helped a few times. She has the watery poo that they say indicates she is too hot or not eating enough. She eats like a horse and is in and out of the heat lamp end of the brooder just like the other chicks.

My first time with a Sussex. Maybe it IS a Sussex thing!
Any other Sussex owners who can chime in?

How funny!! It was the first thing I noticed about these little ones, compared to the others they just guzzle it down, and man, I get a towel out every time we are handling them.

They eat a bunch and act completely normal, in and out of the heat lamp. Their poo looks normal, but comes with a big splash of water...
