I bought an immersable heater for my 5 gallon water bucket. Do I really need a grounding pole if I have it plugged into a GFI outlet?

A GFCI (Ground Fault Interrupter Circuit) is good enough unless the instructions state that you need a ground rod. I just plug mine in to an extension cord with a built in GFCI.
