I paid $22.99 for the double-walled galvanized waterer, and $60 for the heater base (which I thought was a lot, but was less than at 2 other places). So it's expensive but I set it up today on a pation block above 3 cinder blocks, and I'm betting that by February it looks like a GREAT deal!
banter- Geese have teeth?! I found some old plastic tubing today and I'm going to slice it lengthwise, apply over the cord and seal with heat-resistant electric tape. The cord will go through a hole we drilled in a beam , out to a barn aisleway where there is an outlet.
Thanks for the help-Ok-next problem. We have a great barn built in the very early 1800's with no heat, obviously. After you have a heater for the water how do you clean and dispose of the old water? I'm using big old black plastic square tubs that hold about 15+ gallons. We can break the ice and tip them into a hole ( that ends up in the basement of the barn) which drains out through the foundation. Must be an easier way!
