I have a 9 month old Laying maran that has always had a wet orifice. I saw her on the perch last night and water was dripping form her orifice. Has anyone a idea of what might be going on?

the fluid is clear, i don't know if she is laying yet, her tail feathers are missing, her vent area is dirty with poop, i put her in a cage for 4 days and fed electrolyles in water and she is eating, i have two broody buff orfingtons that get nasty when i feed a little scratch and meal worms.

The temp in the coop is 55-62 deg F. Ventilation is very good. coop is clean.

Is she acting ill? Be sure to keep the bedding stirred, as dry as possible, and add new pine shavings as needed. Being confined, they will be more exposed to droppings. Clean her vent up, trim any excess fluff, and if possible post a picture. Electrolytes for more than several days could cause runny poops. Your vet may agree to do a fecal float on some droppings, and possibly a gram stain for other organisms. Probiotics are always a good idea. Grow2max is good online, and there are some at feed stores, such as Probios powder, as well a plain greek yogurt or buttermilk. Feel of her crop early in the morning to make sure that it is empty and flat, or she might have a crop problem which could also trigger diarrhea.

I have a followup to what i found. My Maran was impacted with two jumbo eggs. did a warm bath of epson salt and dish soap for 30 min, then lubed up the vent with mineral oil, slowely massaged and squeezed out one jumbo egg in good shape. then caged the hen over night and another jumbo egg with a hole in it was layed. she is doing better but does not have any feather around her vent (4 inch bald spot). got all hens on apple cider vinegar mixed into the water and good oyster shell calcium in a small feeder.
