Hi I was just wondering if anyone has been to the Waterloo swap. I really want to go it's about an hour and a half away from me, so I was hoping someones been and can tell me if its worth going to or not.

I was at the one last month, and yes, it was worth going to. They had lots of stuff, but I'll warn you, it's a lot of walking. I take my golf cart to do it...LOL Makes things much easier. We strap pet carriers on the back of the golf cart, then run back to the van and empty them when they get full. I'm not sure if we're going this time or not...still thinking on it.

it is about an hour and half drive for us also. were going to take birds and rabbits, but too hot tonite to catch and hold in cages that long, but are going to look. take a wagon with cages straped on, the walking is good exercise too. better get there early, gates open at 5:30. last time we went, 1hr wait to get in gate, and we got there at 6am. well worth going, but if you can't resist things, take lots of cash. april things were high i thought. was told may things cheaper. who knows.

thank you so much for the info. I am definitely going to go and am prepared for the walk and the waiting in lines to get in.

So, who went to the Waterloo swap? Was there much there? I wanted to go, but with my health situation, I just can't take the heat well. Gotta know what I missed!

I went there, it was amazing. That was the first big animal swap that I have gone too. Lots and lots of animals there. I got some silkies, buff orpingtons, frizzle mutts, silver spangled hamburg, sultan mixes, cochins, and bantam barred rocks. I am very happy with my purchases. They had so much more too. I know that there will not be a swap next month, but there will be in August. I will definitely be going then.

Darn! It sounds like you hit the jackpot! We figured with the heat, it might not be too good, but guess we were wrong. Guess we should have tried it. But I just couldn't see loading everything I have to take, and setting out there in the sun. Oh well, we're going to Farmington this Sunday, and Fruitland next Saturday, so hopefully we'll get some sold then. I am planning to go to the Aug Waterloo too, if all goes well. Maybe we'll see you there. I'll be the one with the golf cart...LOL

i went to waterloo yesterday...It was my 1st time going..Man there were chickens EVERYWHERE any breed you could think of finding was probably there...Just bought 6 RIR hens yesterday but definitely going back next month...We got there right at 5:30 which was good because it was packed even that early...It was a blast.

Farmington is small compared to Waterloo, but it is usually a pretty nice little swap with some quality birds. I've got Jumbo Brown Coturnix Quail, Bantam Light Brahmas, Rosecombs, Bantam Splash Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons (LF), Mille Fleur d'Uccle Roosters, and a few others.
