Watery Poo Update

I have some six week old silkies and this morning, their poo is much more runny than normal.

Usually it is solid

Now it is like a little poo in a lake


What is causing it?



After awhile of running around and eating, it started to harden back up again.
I guess it was because they hadn't eaten breakfast??

I don't know either. Most chickens have one big yucky poop each day, but if this is different than normal, I would just watch them to see if it recurs or if any start acting under the weather.

Well, they seem to be fine and active.

So i am not too worried at the moment.

I will just have to keep an eye on them.

could they have gotten chilled?
has any of the feed gotten wet, and maybe went sour under the heat light?

not a bad idea to have cocci med on hand..

what color are the droppings?

I don't think they have gotten chilled...

They have a heat lamp they can go under (the food is in the adjacent corner from the heat lamp, so it is lit, but not under the full force of the light)

The food can't have gotten wet... their water is far away from it

They're on medicated feed... wouldn't that protect against cocci?

The poo color is just a light brown.

It certainly doesn't sound like cocci, but for future reference, don't assume they can't get it. The medicated food certainly helps, but if they get an overload of cocci, they can still get it. They are probably fine. Let us know if there are any more problems.
