Hi everyone!

One of my hen’s is a year old, and she is having some watery clear droppings. She has been having these droppings for at least two weeks now, I am worried about it. Although, she is acting her completely normal self. Shes walking around, scratching, eating and drinking water, excited for her treats, just completely normal. So I’m thinking, whatever it is, it might not be too serious?

I dewormed my chickens at least two months ago, so they should be fine. She does not have any mites. I put ACV in there water throughout the week. She does not have sour crop either, I have checked for that as well.

I have no idea what this could be and whether I should be concerned or not?

What did you worm with?
Is the acv a constant thing?
I dewormed my small flock with Safeguard Equine dewormer paste about two months ago after noticing what looked like possible tapeworms in their droppings. I decided to treat the whole flock just to be safe, and since then, I haven’t seen any worms at all. Everyone is acting completely normal, including the one hen who started having watery, clear droppings in the past two weeks.

As for ACV, I add it to their water about once or twice a week. I change their water daily to make sure they always have fresh, clean water. I’ve been using ACV at that frequency for a while now and have never had any issues, so I don’t think it’s causing any problems—especially since they’re used to it.

I have seen mixed opinions on how often to use ACV in poultry water, and it seems like everyone does it a little differently.

I'd eally stop the acv, theres zero benefits. What's their normal diet, Including treats?
I see, really? I’ve heard so many things from ACV. I can stop to see if that makes a difference. They are on 17% protein crumble feed, I give them mealworms occasionally and some fruits and veggies. They also free range at times

The only thing it does is make water slightly acidic. It doesn't do a fraction of what people claim it does.
Are they getting too warm.

I see. Thank you! And no, they shouldn’t be. It’s about 50-60 degrees here still. She definitely drinks a good amount of water sometimes, but I’m not sure if that’s the reason. I always want to make sure my chickens are okay

When I have a problem I try to determine if it is a flockwide problem or an individual hen problem. The way I read this the rest of the hens are fine so it is not a flockwide problem. I try to not treat an entire flock for an individual hen problem. I don't want to mess the others up.

We all have our opinions on giving them supplements like ACV. Some people think it is critical to give them all kinds of things in the feed, in the water, or on the side. Others don't. I base my opinion on what a doctor once told me when I asked him about taking a multivitamin supplement. What are you short in that you are trying to supplement. All of your tests are great, it is a waste of money to buy supplements. I'm now old so I take certain things for pain. I have something specific. But as far as you giving then ACV as long as it is in moderation I don't see that you are causing any harm. Once or twice a week is certainly in moderation as long as it is properly diluted. If you think it is helping anything keep doing it. It is obviously not hurting your flock as a whole.

I don't know what has started this in your individual hen over the last two weeks. Sometimes it is something that they eat. It is kind of strange that the individual hen would be eating it for two weeks while the rest of your flock is not. It is possible she is sensitive to something the others are not. If you started the ACV two weeks ago that would be a prime candidate. Maybe an allergy, I don't know.

As long as she is acting OK I would not overly worry. But keep an eye on here in case you see something. If you hatch chicks from your eggs I would not hatch her eggs in case it is something that could be inherited.
