Sooo i have 3 10 week old pekins that are imprinted - love love love ;) they fully free range all day . . well yesturday i got American Buff goslings eeeekkkk ! yay & TODAY took them out in the yard w the ducks and chickens To get some fresh air for the first time ... They are 4 days old . The chickens (almost 14 weeks old ) didnt care but the ducks seemed offended then when I called one close she came but put her head down and shook it a lil and sounded like she was hissing ..I told her NO! These are babies and to be nice! And she stopped .. but every time she came close shed start putting her head down low and shakin it ... no hissing tho since id yelled at her for it ...that's prolly normal huh ? Was it aggression ? or a maternal duck thing? They didn't straight attack as they could've ... And they behaved when I told them too ..
Should I just keep having them spend time together ?
A different behavior so I thought I'd ask! Thanks for any replies!

Make a safe pen for the goslings so they can all be together but the ducks can't get to them, that way they can all get use to each other then when gosling are big enough to be outside full time they will all know each other and hopefully the ducks will be nice. it was aggression your duck looked at the goslings as intruders into their territory.

well that sucks . :(

today ... theres been mulitple times i went out in the yard ... sometimes i took the goslings w me .. and my girls were def stand offish ... then when it was just me they were fine like usual ... before i put them up for the night i took the goslings out w me and fed my girls their fav treat in a bowl in front of me .. the girls ate it and the goslings stayed under my feet pretty much . sometimes one of them would come close ( and if it were a dog id swear it looked like it was sniffing at it ) then shed walk back to the treat . and another would come do the same - still at a distance . they all ate till they were full then stood there looking at the goslings like " what are those .. and what are they doing here ?!!"

Please don't just put them into the coop with out protection. A nice large dog crate inside the coop so the goslings won't be picked on , I have done this with chickens I have brought into the flock and it works really well. Even when your goslings are taller than your ducks they won't be any match for them physically because they are more immature.

No of course not! I was just saying any time I can't supervise would be stressful for me as a mama . But that time will come eventually . I can't be in there 24/7 . I have a cage I plan on using to integrate them . Not just here ya go sink or swim . I was just looking for ways to help before that.. Like in the yard lil by lil or what ?

Sorry if I offended you, not my intention at all, if you can fashion a small pen in the yard you could put your goslings out and let everyone get use to each other. On nice warm days even less than week old goslings can be outside as long as the have shelter, water and wind break.then bring them in at night. flockman over on goose thread did this with his gander, he made a pen and put his goslings and ducklings in it then the gander began to be protective of all of them. You ducks probably won't become protective of the goslings but they will begin to get use to them.
