We are working on our coop this weekend. What are your suggestions for keeping your run predator proof?

We used hardware. And make sure the coup part has a door that protects them form even an enclosed run. A friend of ours had skunks that pulled up their chicken wire got into the run. They entered the coup from the run. Killed their girls

Two of the best attributes I've read about for runs are aprons to deter diggers and covering the run with wire mesh to exclude hawks.(the smaller the mesh the smaller birds that will be excluded if you have feed stealing chirpers)

There are a lot of variables when thinking about how to build coop and run.
Do you have dog(s) outside 24/7 that can keep predators away?

1/2" x 1/2" hardware cloth attached with screws and washers on all coop openings.
Double lock latches for all doors on coop.
Unless your coop is totally inside an all hardware cloth run.

Hope that helps a bit. Good Luck!

I do have a lab, but our underground fence isn't working right at the moment. (go figure)
I thought about burying hardware cloth, but I would end up with a seam. Suggestions for dealing with a seam?

Overlap and a few wire ties...or 'stitch' it with a long piece of wire in and out of holes....depends on where the seam is.
If you're talking about an apron buried a few inches to keep large(dog, fox, raccoon) predators out, you can use larger meshed (2" x 4") wire fencing.
