I went to the grocery store yesterday, and the empy lot across the street from the grocery store has some construction going on.
There is a sign that says TSC coming soon.
I yelled to my kids YAY! We are getting a TSC!
I have never been to one, but I hear they have great prices on chicken supplies and pet food!
No one I know IRL would understand my excitement..

Youll LOVE it when they open. They have everything you need for chickens, including vitamins. I went to my local store on the last day of "chick days" and got 6 Rhode Island Reds for $1.00ea. Chesck other TSC's during chick days, as they all carry something different. I went to 3 different stores and was able to get a good selection out of them all.

The next nearest TSC is about a 45 min drive... i didn't think it was worth the drive since I have 3 Agway's within 15 minutes. But a TSC less than 10 minutes away will be nice.

Yeah, I had to drive a bit for the other TSC's as well. But the wife and I made an afternoon of it. We try and take time wherever we can fit it in.

We have 2 Agways within a 10 minute drive. 1 is just about out of business and their inventory and attitude reflect that. The other Agway is recovering from a fire they had last year. But, no matter what you want or have a question with - they stay with you until they either get you what you need or tell you when it will be in. Attitude is everything..........but they dont have the room now for chicks, they said once the renovations are completed, then they will.

It depends on what other feed/seed stores and farm supplies you have available in your area as to whether the TSC is a good thing or not. There are several in my area and for some things I like them right well, less so for others. I won't buy chicks from TSC because of the clueless, indifferent attitudes they all have about their birds, but I have bought feeders and drinkers from them. Some other harwdare, tools, and stuff like that. I'm glad they are available but they are not the be-all of farm supply stores and with only an occasional exception the floor staff know little about anything other than how to keep the shelves stocked and ringing up the sale.

Your right Alan, I probably should have worded my post better. I too believe that customer service is everything. I happen to be fortunate that my local TSC has some good employee's and they will help you out if they can. If not they will find someone who knows the answer. The local Agway that I refuse to go to anymore, has a snotty impatient and sometimes just downright rude salesperson. And they OWN the place!! I can see why they are just about closed.

Its another thread but there is a definately a lack of concerned employee's in this country. People seem to have the "Thats not my job" attitude.

well our other feed store isn't much better. The lady helping with the chicks today didn't know an EE from a BO --- she said she was the resident "horse person" and knew nothing about chickens

So not every employee can know everying. My TSC has a newer employee who raises chickens, so we're friends

The MAIN reason that I shop at TSC though is the hours. The other feed store might have better customer service in general, but they close at 6pm and are closed all day on Sunday. I rarely get off work before 6pm, and my day off is routinely on a Sunday so if I buy feed it will have to be at TSC.
I have found that since I always work odd hours (previously 3rd shift, now fast food) the places that I shop are FREQUENTLY determined by their hours of operation.
