We decided to buy Poults Can we have some help please! :=)

Spring is just around the corner we made our first short chick list and on it is 2 turkey poults along with some chicks and ducks Is that enough turkeys? Hos should I raise them with the ducks and chicks or can they not? When they get older what will I have to do? When will they be able to fly and have their heat lamp temp lowered? How much space do they need? Just please tell me everything I need to know about raising baby poults and when they are juvenilles THANKS SO MUCH

I too initially got only two turkeys, so yes, only having two turkeys will work just fine provided they have a heat lamp to curl up under. I would advise against putting the poults in with the ducks or chicks and opt instead to put the poults in their own brooder. Chicks may carry blackhead, a disease to which chickens are normally immune, but can badly affect turkeys. When they get older, just treat them like normal birds, I guess. Get them a new enclosure, preferably with a large run, and make sure they have food and water and places to lay eggs. Turkeys are able to fly pretty well at a very young age; once they get their wing feathers in, they'll be trying to test them out. Make sure the pen you get for them is covered, otherwise they might just get out!

I always put my turkeys in with baby chicks because the chicks help the turkeys learn to eat and drink. Don't put them in with waterfowl as the bedding will get very wet, very fast and turkeys are a little fragile when it comes to wet and/or cold. You'll want an area that's heated to about 98 degrees with the heat lamp but give them an area to escape to if they get too warm and once a week you'll want to raise the heat lamp a little effectively lowering the temp in that area by about five degrees.
The very second those babies get their wing feathers they're looking for roosts and higher places to get to but they'll fly into an area that's not warm enough and then not be able to get back and they'll get sick so make sure they're enclosed and safe until they're old enough to maintain some body heat.
