We just got 6 baby chicks of 1 day to 1 week old. The breeds are:
1 Silvernudd Isbar
2 Barnyard finds (large white egg layer)
3 Easter Egger

They are straight run. When picking did we look for the runaway / corner with back to us and if they got already tail feathers in. Definitive did avoid the stinky eyes and finger pecker :p . We will update their growth and hope we got future hens.

Adorable chicks! I can't wait to see your updates! With everything you're saying, are you trying some methods to see how accurate they are on sexing? If so, I'd like to see how it turns out. :)

Yes, we hope the sexing based on feather grow and behavior was accurate. We have 15 eleven week old chickens and we did it for the first time. We got 9 roosters and 6 hens in this batch.
This time we had a more experienced person helping us. Will be interesting to see how they turn out.

Great! Please keep us updated!

Hey, on one of my methods... The Line Theory, the brown chick on the right in the second picture is a female. On the Line Theory, if the line only goes to the ear, it's a male. If the line goes past the ear and is thicker, like your's, it's a female. Now that theory I've only been able to prove accurate on is Silver Duckwing Old English Games. Other breeds/colors, I haven't been able to get. I'd love to see the results on your chick to see if it is accurate on her.

I think your method works for the welsummer breed too. We got in our mystery shipment in January 2 hens and 1 rooster. I will see if I have pictures of them. They also had a black line on the back and it was wider. The brown is a easter egger and was hard to catch. That is why we picked it.

Baby chicken update:
Week 2: We were able to capture funny sleeping positions
Week 2.jpg
Week 3: We lost one of the easter egger. 2 look like posible roosters. One white barnyard find has a lot of comb without red and the Isbar also has a lot of comb with slight red but is also about 1 week older.
