(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We're brand new to chickens and picked up our little flock of six just a few hours ago on July 4, 2009. They are seven months old and already laying. One layed an egg in the little dog kennel we used to bring them home.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have six hens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
One Leghorn, two Buff Orington, one Aracauna and two Gold Lacewings.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
After watching our hens in their new henhouse for an hour, and watching our leghorn peck the already "feather reduced" areas on the back of the Aracauna and Lacewings, I was worried and got online to see what's up. That's when I discovered this great online community!!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We're musicians, writers, teachers and farmer newbies. My husband an I have just recently relocated to Oregon so we're spending a lot of time meeting folks and getting settled.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We've got two lambs and a dog that has awesome herding insticts. We are learning lots and are very happy with our new home.
