We have a chick!!

I went to work at 4 am yesterday and had 9 eggs under mama. I got up this morning and went out to let the chickens out and feed them. I went to count the eggs under mama and I had 8 eggs and SURPRISE 1 baby chick!!

congratulations!!!!!!! mine is setting on 8 eggs and we are on day 8. my first time with a broody so I am really geeked out about this whole process. exciting!

Mine too... I took them out some lettuce and we have another one hatched!!

omg how cute! so how is the momma doing? does she have more eggs left to hatch?

Mama is good and yes we have 7 more gees to hatch and another mama has 9 eggs she is sitting on!! I am so excited we have been trying for a year and now I have to buy eggs cause they want to sit on them all. Lol

so i am curious also, how she is attending to the new chicks but still setting on the remaining eggs. i worry that mine will leave the eggs to take care of the new ones.

Still only 2 chicks. But I am trying to be patient. The new babies were taken out and placed in the baby coop and are doing well. But I am not sure how long I should leave the other eggs in there. Any help on that would be great.
