Mama silkie hen is sitting on three eggs, set to hatch today and/or tomorrow (she went broody under unique circumstances and it's hard to say which day she actually started sitting on them). Pulled them out to candle this morning, and one had a pip and was cheeping energetically at me. YAY!

I'll post pics and such later... just had to share...

K guys. Only you will understand this. I got home after dark last night and with headache/nausea and the biggest bummer about that was not getting to check on mama & (I hope!) babies!!! Arrrghh!!!

So you'll totally understand that I'm on pins and needles for it to get light enough for me to go out and see what's under her. I will update you later this morning. AAAAAaaa weeee! Can't wait.

P.S. All three were alive and pushing at the membrane (or, in the one case, externally pipped) yesterday morning. Silkies are amazing, able to hatch eggs that I don't even think are viable and, in one case, an egg I didn't even know existed (if it even did), so... I expect all three to hatch. Can't wait!!

YES!!!

One baby, one externally pipped egg, one internally pipped egg.

WOOT!

Pics coming. It's raining cats & dogs and I didn't take my camera out there, but I will now.

Silkie mamas amaze me. That third egg under her was porous, calcified, and smaller than normal. Somehow she got it this far anyway. I expect the baby will be smallish, and I hope it is a normal baby. Anyway... pics! I'm going for pics now.

All three hatched!! Woot! The second two are blues, and smaller than the first one was--their eggs were smaller too--and all three seem quite healthy and normal. Woot!!! Go, mama!
