My five-year-old "pet-training" the smallest chick. Don't worry--he's got YEARS of experience handling chicks. The chick is quite safe.

This is also the third one (i.e. Egg #3), the smallest of the batch. She hatched out of a porous, calcified, too-small, too-round egg that I thought sure would be a quitter. Silkie mamas never cease to amaze me in what they can successfully hatch.

All three are healthy and vigorous. Woot!
