i'm so glad I joined byc. I always need advice on how to take care of our chickens and ducks. right now its winter here. tried to do almost everything to make them happy. we never, never eat them. they are for eggs only. I have a heat lamp on for them, its safe and won't start a fire. but what else can we do for them? talk to all soon. deb

! Good to have you aboard! A great place to begin your knowledge quest is the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center Tons of great articles on all aspects of chicken and ducks raising. For questions about quackers, the Ducks Forum is the place to be: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks Lots of ducks folks on BYC and they really know their stuff. Finally, I saw you perhaps had some concerns about winter poultry keeping. Here's an article from the Learning Center that addresses it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/winter-chicken-keeping
Best wishes to you and your flock, Deb, and thanks for joining BYC!

Welcome!

As always, redsoxs has given you some great starting points so I will just add that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
