We just got 6 baby chicks and if anyone has any adivice it would be much a apreciated! they are a heavy breed grown for butchering. any help would be awesome!!

Keep them warm, watered and fed.

And take pics.... and put them on here.

Keep reminding your self of their ultimate destination! Don't get attached!!!! Some people are able to do this but I have a hard time. I keep reminding my self why I got them and that they are not pets! They are food!! They are Food!! They are food!! It don't help but I try! It's still not easy to do the deed when the time comes. "Warm, watered ( fresh water), fed" and out of cool breezes!

Good Luck and God Bless!

I agree..dont get attached! I actually only go in and check on mine twice a day..I dont play with them either. I love animals too much. I actually had to ask my dad to kill them for me because even though I"m not trying to get attached, I cant help but love them as I care for them. I also wont let my kids play with them either. I actually got 5 other chicks that are in the house for the kids to love on, and then stuck the broiler chicks in the coop so we are not constantly around them.

My Dad always said I couldn't name anything that went into the freezer... So as an obedient daughter I didn't name them... They named themselves. Tippy, steer that had a white tail. Pete and Repete, twin lambs, One Hung Low, The first steer my Dad castrated( my Mom named him) and a myriad of poultry.
What I'm trying to say is it's hard to stay detached. Some can do it, and it's probably easier for them when it comes time to butcher. How ever you do it enjoy this time, they sure are fun.
