The coop is in the process... And thank you for the tip about raising the water off the ground. After you mentioned it I did remember reading that before.. and yes! That is helping quite a bit!

I've heard for a brooder you can use a large plastic storage container like you would get at Wal-Mart. Might be bigger than their cardboard box! I've been reading Storeys guide to raising chickens. The learning center here is great, but it's also been nice to read a book on how to raise chickens.

Yes I actually considered that today in fact. But the box I'm using was from my toddlers new car seat so it's pretty big and taller that the plastic tote. And now that it's not getting as wet is working much better. Phew.. A few minutes ago though the Americana "flew" up a bit in the box. She is a week olde than the others.. Oh my! Let the fun begin
