Hello All, We have had chickens for over 20 years, but we were given a pair of Muscovys recently. I was instantly made to research all I can about the breed because a wild animal yanked the mother off her eggs, ate 2, and so mom wouldn't go back to the nest. That was the day they were due to hatch! I brought the eggs to the house and have raised them since then. They are now 1 month old. I am fascinated with their markings. I have a question for those of you that have Muscovys. Mine have black spots on their heads. Will those black spots become color? The mother and drake is white, but she also was briefly with a colorful drake. Can a female carry genes from both drakes? Happy to be here!

In all my years of raising ducks I only had one Muscovy and it had to go because it tried to kill some of my other ducks. Some one dropped it off at my house . I have only wild ducks and I don't raise domestic breeds . Someone else might know . Welcome to BYC ! How cute they are ! :ya
I am just learning, but I have noticed the drake is quite possessive of the female. They have full reign over the pond so it's not a problem. Thanks!
