We finally got going on our chicken run today. We framed in the three walls and dug the trenches. Then I gave it 2 coats of white paint. Next steps...........attach hardware cloth on the bottom and chicken wire on the top, make and hang the door into the run, and build the roof.

That looks sooooo good! That does it! I'm definitely going to paint my coop RED!

BTW, you might want to run 1/2" x 1/2" out 18" and up 18" for preditor prevention. I even buried the 18" outside with a aised bed garden.

That looks great! Congrats on getting started, for us that is sometimes the hardest part. lol My hubby and I haven't started on the run yet. We are hoping to get a 12x12 chain link dog run from his dad for cheap. We would still have to dig the trenches and put harwared cloth/chicken wire on it but we are thinking it would save a lot of hard work and money.
Good luck on getting it finished soon.

You can't see it too well in my photo, but we are planning to bury the hardware cloth about 12 inches deep to deter digging predators. We are also stapling about a foot of it onto the front of the coop inself and burying that because we don't want predators to dig under the coop and into the run. Hopefully all these efforts will keep our girls very safe.

I had to put the 1/2 x 1/2 up 18 inches because I was also afraid one of my Boston Terriers would see a hen's head sticking out and snap it off. Thank goodness they all get along now. I still don't let the dogs and hens share the back yard unless I'm out there with them.

My little daschund likes to chase the chickens. Hasn't caught one yet

Phil barely got there in time to save her.
