I ordered some chicks from a hatchery and they all arrived healthy and happy. On their first night everyone was eating and drinking;plus, there was no pasty butt. However, that night one chick of nineteen passed away. The chick was completely healthy and I can not figure out what happened. Now I have a very very small bantam chick that seems weak. She drinks on her own, and eats some crumbles but she is always sleepy. When I pick her up she will instantly fall asleep in my hand. When I set her down she is very wobbly and always closes her eyes. All the other chicks run around, and the temperature is just right. I don't know if she is fine and I'm just freaking out, or if she is weak. Should I feed her some scrambled egg to perk her up, or what should I do? Thanks for the advice.

Do you have some Poultry NutriDrench or electrolytes that you can give her right away? You should dip her beak in water, give a couple of drops of NutriDrench or put the elctrolytes into the water. Add some water to the chick feed and dip her beak into that as well. The chick may be weak and suffering from shipping stress, and the only thing you can do is try to revove it with electrolytes and fluid as often as possible. I hope you can save her.

Thanks. I have some electrolytes and I’ll try right now. Can you give chicks to much fluid?
