Weak newly hatch duck for this vent look normal?

My day old hatched duckling didn’t absorb all of egg yolk but had to assist as it was pipping wrong end and no progress after 48 hours. He’s was very weak but today seems stronger but very sleepy and not really eating or drink or standing much. I gave home a little examination to check for pasty but5 as I do with my chicks ans bricked his vent area has a bit of blood! I’d this normal?

Is that where the yolk sac was? day-old ducklings don't usually have an appetite since they are living off the yolk sac it absorbed. Give it a day or two and it will be hungry. You can apply triple antibiotic on the place your showing wash your hands good before and after so you don't introduce any bacteria into the hole. If this is where the yolk sac was it should continue to close over the course of the day just make sure to keep it on a clean cloth or paper towels. If that is the vent it doesn't look normal but I've never seen this before. Is it pooped yet? Also just hatched ducklings do rest a lot hatching is hard work.

No pooping yet but seems very slightly more awake now he’s friend has hatched so fingers crossed he’ll be ok! So many different ages of ducks and chicks with a staggered hatch never doing it again! Lol
