Hi I'm new here but I would like to say how much this Web site has helped me. I have a very weak runt her name is racer.she is now three days old and has yet to eat or drink on her own. Mostly bc one she is weak and two her legs are bad she mostly sits on her honches if she isn't laying on her side on my lap she has stayed w me the whole time bc the others picked at her so bad also I'm helping her drink about every ten to fifteen minutes. But I did a lot of research on this site n came across a feed about a vitamin b deficiency well I thought about what I had in the pantry n went from there I had some egg yolk but it was to thick for her so I mixed in some sugar water w a hint of salt n she took it very well Im giving it to her in a syringe
400
but her feet still didn't uncurl n she was still sitting on her butt. So I pulled out my last stich effort n crushed up a vitamin b tablet n mix it into the concoction I already had made for her. It seems to be working she has a little more energy her feet are starting to look normal and she stood for a whole minute by herself. I know it's still up in the air she could still go backwards it's difficult w such young chicks but I couldn't have gotten even here w out this site thank you all

You can make splints for the feet with some medical tape. Cut a piece that you put the foot on with toes splayed and then put another piece on top.
A vitamin supplement can help. A drop of baby vitamin mix, Poly-vi-sol without iron is recommended.
Sugar water (or any other sugar source like agave nectar) will give them energy.
All things in moderation.
Often, chicks just aren't robust and fail to thrive.
