weed killer and seeds

hello everyone! ive got a bit of a problem , ive been growing a nice supply of henbit, chickweed and dandelions for my birds ( my finches love them! ) and all was good until my dad decided to put weedandfeed all over the yard and he claimed to have left my area alone but it has become evident it has seeped over because all the ones i grow for my birds are starting to wilt ( i hate it when he uses chemicals to solve problems 2 years ago he used weed killer on the yard and the next day 2 dead sparrows were found in the yard ) so i want to know if i get the seeds from the dead chickweed and dandelions will they grow or has that gotten to them as well and also if they do sprout and grow will it be safe to feed to my birds oh and i also want to know if its safe to grow vegetables in my area that the weed killer seeped through ?

if he used a post emergent type herbiside then the seed will germinate if they are viable, if it had a pre emergent herbicide in the mix they will not.
