First time hatching silkie chicks with our silkie broody hen was a success! She is taking great care of the chicks however we just discovered 3 chicks tangled and stuck to momma... one broke lose on its own with the commotion, the other two had to be carefully freed with the help of scissors... This one had a feather wrapped around its neck and wing almost like a tight string! The chicks are one week old today. We quickly noticed the left wing is dragging and not folded up against its body. It is still eating and drinking normally. Will this heal on its own? Has anyone else had an issue with chicks getting tangled? I could not believe the extent of how tangled this one was.

Did you feel the wing it's self? 8t could have injured it's self when struggling. Can easily dislocated joints or break bone.

I would just check for any open wounds on the wing and shoulder, but then just keep an eye on it. I would not try to wrap the wing against the body, since she is too tiny. Even if it doesn’t straighten up she will be fine.

Thanks for the replies! As of this morning the chick is now holding it's wing normal! I will keep monitoring to make sure no young chick is stuck to momma.
