If you have dusted for mites, checked the chickens throats for worms, wormed them with Wazine as directed, switched feeds, watched for respiratory problems (none exist) and observed chickens eating and pooping fine....

what could cause severe weight loss, leading to death, in random chicks, juvies and adults? Is there any chicken disease that only causes weight loss (failure to thrive) with no other symptoms and doesn't affect the majority of the flock?

Maybe the bigger hens just weren't letting them eat?
If they were low in pecking order the other's may have pushed them away ... causing them to starve.
It does happen

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it is worms and when I treated their water, the chickens in question don't drink enough that day to get enough of the meds? Could that be possible?
