I’ve noticed recently that my 3 1/2 year old australorp hen hasn’t been the same weight and her comb has become pale. When i pick her up, compared to the other hens she feels like nothing. I’m treating everyone for scaly leg, her legs don’t seem to be affected though. I don’t know if something is wrong with her or i am just overthinking? Also i don’t think she is laying eggs as much or at all anymore. Something to mention is that i had to treat her for a vent prolapse around a year or so ago. Could this be a factor? Even after i treated her i don’t remember her weighing this light.

Have you checked her crop? Is she laying that you know of? Check her abdominal area for a full feeling like a loaded diper. Is she panting? Where was she when you found her like this? How long has it been going on? Will she eat/dink?

Her vent seems normal. I haven’t checked her crop i’ll do it tomorrow, i don’t know if she’s laying as most of my hens lay brown eggs so it’s hard to tell, i’ll check tomorrow, she isn’t panting but when i hold her she makes this soft wheezing noise, she’s just been standing in the run like all the other hens, i just noticed she’s been weighing less, but more or less acts the same, I think it’s been a few months, i’m not sure, but seeing as she hasn’t changed it’s starting to worry me. She does drink, i’m pretty sure she eats too.

More whistley. I’ll check everything you told me to tomorrow. Also, i know this isn’t a place to ask, but i’m treating my hens for scaly leg and i noticed some of them have bumblefoot. Would it be a bad idea to treat the bumblefoot now?
