Hi all.

I hope this is the proper place to post such question. I have already searched the forum / google about the issue with no luck. Thanks.

Both me and my neighbor raise chickens. Recently I heared a strange chicken sound coming from his house durning night. His chicken will stay up at night with "buck buck buck ..." sound all time, stops for a few seconds and continue. I am not sure if this will continue until morning.

Any idea / help? I am worried about it. I'm planning to tell him about the issue, but also would consult the experts in this lovely forum!

Thanks!

Hello

Thanks. I hope what you say is true and not because the hen may be sick or something.

Appreciate your help.

I'd ask your neighbor if they have heard it and checked it out.
Does it happen every night....for how many nights now?

One of mine did that and we realized we had a light on out back and she was confused, she thought it was night but then the light confused her so she would "buck, buck. buck" Put her in the coop and shut the light and she has been fine and puts herself to bed now.

My thought is that perhaps a night visitor is prowling around-- racoon, cat, dog or something else is making this chicken nervous. Check around the coop and perimeter and see if something is digging or trying to get in the coop under the cover of darkness.

I'm sure I'll ask him as well, thanks!
It happens every night since a week or so, I guess, the thing is, I heared it today in the morning. Not sure what's going on.

My father suggested the same thing. Few nights before, we kept some lights for an event in our house, our chickens stayed awake with no sound (of course we turned the lights off, not all night). I'll check with my nieghbor as well. Thanks!

My neighbor also owns a cat. Could it be it? It's a really nice cat and doesn't stay at his house much. Maybe just for the night and keeps the hen up? what about the morning sound today? any suggestions? Thanks!

Chickens aren't going to make noise because they're sick. Something is disturbing it, either predator, light or noise. Could he have a young Cockerel learning to crow?

Hello

Sorry for the late update, been out of country for a while.

I spoke with my neighbor regarding the issue, he mentioned that he noticed his hen make this sound. I asked him to maybe try to cover their house from the lights (he got some lights on the wall) so It could be the issue.

Thanks all for your help. Truly appreciated.
