Weird (duck) egg day 8(9?)

This egg looks a bit different than the others. Signs it is quitting or is it just different? Can someone explain what I’m seeing. I’ve had issues with humidity dropping overnight and we did have a power outage the other day (but I got the generator out fairly quickly). I tried to take pics from different angles/views.

ETA: there is still some movement at this point

It looks ok to me, especially this early on. How are you turning your eggs?
It has an auto egg turner. I believe it does a 5 second turn once an hour. My neighbor let me borrow their incubator.

So the back part of the egg where it looks like runny paint/smeared together is fine? The others seem to have more defined color sections

So there’s less veins visible today than yesterday, I suspect it’s quitting but I’m not giving up just yet. It’s definitely different from all the other eggs and it’s air cell is tiny in comparison.

You may be right, if the veins are disappearing. 🙁 It hasn't quit until it's obvious that it's gone...you should have a better idea of what's happened in a few days.

It definitely quit. There was a sliver of a vein left and just a dark blob. Put it in a plastic baggy to open it up and see what was going on. There was an eye and the beginning of a bill. But mostly a blob. Pretty sure it was scrambled? As all the liquid that came out was yellow and there was no distance yolk.

Sorry to hear it. While it may be difficult to do, an eggtopsy can provide a lot of useful information. I think that if it had been scrambled to begin with, you probably wouldn't have seen as much development as you did. Was it a shipped egg? Early quitters are fairly common with eggs that have experienced shipping stress.

Nope, it was from my own ducks. I was hoping one would go broody so I left the eggs but once there were 20 in the nest I figured they weren’t going to sit. I collected them and set 6 that were newer. I’ve had issues with keeping the humidity stable (it’s been dropping overnight) and we had a power outage, so I’m not surprised. We have 4 that seem to be developing still.

ETA: interestingly enough this was the “cleanest” of all the eggs
