I got an egg today that was very light in color, almost white. But, I don't have any chickens that lay white eggs. They lay brown eggs. Why would one of them suddenly lay such a light egg? Could it be because of the heat?
The egg on the left is the light egg, and the egg on the right is what their eggs normally look like.

She's a little over 4 years old.
She may be ramping down production and getting ready to molt,
you can get some weird eggs before and after the molt.

I'm assuming you're in the northern hemisphere.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

I live in New York. My hens are definitely starting to molt, they're spreading feathers all over the place. I guess that would explain the weird egg. Thanks!
