Hi, while I was rotating coop bedding this morning found this egg on the bottom. I have not seen this before from any of hens so wondering if this is cause for concern? There is a piece of pine shaving stuck at the time so ignore that. I saw no evidence of another egg broken nearby/or anyone trying to eat it.

I only have two breeds in my flock that lay light blue/greenish eggs: my easter egger and ameraucana. Both laid eggs yesterday. Both are newbies with my easter egger starting Feb 12 and my ameraucana last week. My easter egger is an almost daily layer. They are healthy good looking birds.

So glad to read no concern 😁
Looks like egg yolk from another egg laid in the same place being broken.
Not unusual for new layer to lay weak or soft shelled eggs, easily broken to make a mess.
Do they usually lay in the nests?
I have 5 layers now and we got 5 eggs today (this includes the icky one) so I'm almost positive there was not a broken egg somewhere. I checked all over inside of coop. 5 eggs yesterday too.

Sometimes new layers can lay a hard egg and a soft-shell egg in the same day.
