Im not sure if this is normal or not I still keep my 23 day old chicks inside the house and one of them learned how to fly on top of the container that I keep them in and he pooped to times will roosting on the edge and I wasn’t sure if this amount of poop or even the way it looks is normal/ not that I know what normal is 😅 so I feed them chick starter and treat them to some lettuce 🥬 but also fed them a little macaroni and it is winter where I live but getting in to summer I still have a heat lamp over them not sure if I still should?? and also the weather is been like 16 to 20 degrees Celsius so I also don’t know when to move them out in the backyard and turn the heat lamp off.

Looks like cecal poop.

Also, do you provide chick grit to them?
I’m not sure what chicken grit is so no?
but I do have wood shavings that I bought from a wood shop on facebook as bedding and I do see them picking it

Grit is rocks that the chickens eat. They keep them in their digestive tract to help grind up food. If they are eating anything other than pellets, they need it. If they are outside and exposed to dirt, they'll find it themselves. If not, we need to provide it to them. They sell chick grit at feed stores. It's smaller than regular grit for obvious reasons.

Oh sounds interesting! Would definitely stop feeding them other stuff until they go outside or I buy some! Thanks

Zooming into the picture I see a red tinge in the Diarrhea. I'm thinking it may actually be Coccidiosis.

I might be wrong but I don’t really think I saw any redness and yes the first time I saw that I was confused if it wad blood because it was a very shiny dark chocolatey brawn color so I’m not sure 😥

Some strains of Coccidiosis don't cause bloody diarrhea, but some do.

Diarrhea that's off colored, or bubbly can be signs of Coccidiosis, or poor diet.

Keep an eye on it, & see if it happens again?
